April 2009 update

I haven't written for a long time due to the time constraints of taking care of my little munchkins.  Everything is going good for our family with the exception of terribly missing our brave and amazing daughter, Michelle who is deployed.  Thus this update because I caught some cute Madison stuff and wanted to attach it to this blog in the hope that Michelle can download it.  Madison is growing up so fast.  She is now minus two front teeth, the only one in her school and she is very proud.

The below video I took with my phone after we arrived at the dance studio where Madison takes a Hip Hop class.  Poor thing was so tired from her day a school.  She did wake up right after I took this and did great at Hip Hop.

New fun destination in San Pedro

So the new exciting place we like to go with the girls is the new fountains in San Pedro, down by the cruise terminal.  The Port of Los Angeles spent over 14 million dollars for this venue and the same company that produced the fountains at the Belagio in Las Vegas, produced this spectacular place.  It is one of the stops of the Red Car, so it receives many visitors throughout the day.  The fountains play every 15 minutes and twice a day, from 12:00 p.m and 1:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., continuously, with only a 2 minute break between songs so the hydraulic pumps can reset.  Here are some pictures to enjoy.  If you get a chance to come see them, we highly recommend them.

September update and cell phone pictures

So far the month of September has progressed along smoothly.  Kristin moved to Berkeley and began school, as did Nick, and Madison returned to Brighter Days.  Michelle received her BA diploma with a 3.97 GPA.  Congratulations!!!  Joe continues to complete small jobs either at home or at his cousin Mirro's, keeping himself busy.  Last month we went up to see Claus and family.  We took the kids with us and had a good time.  Hannah became sick just before we returned home and gave us a scare when she had a fever spike which resulted in a febrile seizure.  She is OK but her parents had a huge scare.  We now are thoroughly educated on this medical issue and know how to deal with it, should it occur again.  Hopefully it won't.

Maui vacation

So sweet Kristin said to Joe, "Dad, why don't you and Lisa go off for a week before I go off to Berkeley, and I will watch Madison and Hannah." Well, that was not a difficult decision to make. A quick check of airfares, accommodations and OK with Michelle and Kevin, and off we went to Maui a week later. We have one day left, have had a great time, are very relaxed and are looking forward to coming back home. Thanks Kristin!!!!

July...A month with a birthday and other interesting events

On July 8th, Joe turned 54. He and Lisa are now the same age, for at least a couple of months. Kristin had a great idea and that was to surprise Joe with a small family party. We were very successful, with Joe having no clue as he came up the stairs and was greeted by Bob, Sara and Carrie.

We have also had the grandkids for some additional time as Michelle and Kevin have had to spend extra time at work. This has been fun and also hectic as Hannah has begun to walk. She is a little bit of a wild child and much fun. Madison has been handling the changes of attending a different school environment (summer school), and her Mom's extended absence with some difficulty. She struggles when first arriving at school but then enjoys the day after Lisa leaves. She has begun testing "Mormor" and "Mormor", the softy, struggles with reprimands. Michelle has returned so things should get back to normal soon.

Lisa just got a new cell phone and with a 2G memory card inserted in the phone, is gleefully taking as many short videos of the grandkids as she can. The camera is only a 2 megapixel so the quality is not the greatest but still lots of fun.

Until next time.

June 2008-The birthday month

Hello again,

It is June and two important young ladies have birthdays this month, just two days apart. Madison's birthday is June 3rd and Hannah's is June 5th. Madison had a pizza party at her school on the 3rd and then a birthday dinner at Mormor and Papa's house. We will have a big birthday party this Saturday, June 7th, and will celebrate both girls birthday. We'll try to do this for as long as we can but eventually we are sure that the girls will rebel and will want their own celebration.

Bill and Kath are back and have been taking over babysitting duties, not an easy task. Bill has been working hard in the backyard to get it ready for the party. He has been doing an amazing job and the yard looks amazing. I have included a picture of the little playhouse that is in the backyard. It is adorable and was painted lovingly by the girl's dad, Kevin. The paint needed a little touch up and Bill did an incredible job. It now boasts a different trim color and is even cuter.

Until the next chapter, post party.

2008 Updates

Hello Everybody,

I was sitting here reading everyone else's posts and though, "I should add something to my blog, if nothing more than some pictures."

Joe and I have stayed pretty busy since Christmas. Joe has been working with his cousin, Mirro, on Mirro's apartment building. He leaves religiously every day at around 9:00 a.m. and returns in the afternoon. He has built two beautiful sheds in the backyard and will be constructing one more after he builds a new fence in the back yard.

Lisa has been busy chasing Madison and Hannah around. Madison goes to school three days a week and loves it and on the two other days we are taking walks, riding trains and doing other fun stuff. Hannah is growing like a weed and is now crawling everywhere and standing up at the coffee table. Check out the pictures.

Until next time.
